Quito’s spirit is relaxed yet colourful ; officially the highest capital city in the world, there’s plenty to do for everyone. Discover an active stratovolcano in the Andes; encounter the city’s Old Town treasure trove of architecture that is now a Unesco World Heritage Site. Quito’s many landmarks include the Archbishop's Palace, the Hotel Plaza Grande, the Municipal Palace, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Carondelet Palace, all located in Independence Square, (Plaza Grande). Visit chocolate and coffee plantations or butterfly farms. Try bird watching in the cloud forest canopy or visit the Parque Metropolitano Guanguiltagua, the largest urban park in South America.

When should I visit?

Quito has a cool climate that is moderately stable due to the city’s elevation and proximity to the equator. Known as the dry season, average temperatures are usually around 20°C during the summer months, (June through September). As well as other buses that service the area, there is a great transport system, The MetrobusQ network, or “Red Integrada de Transporte Público”, a bus service which runs from south to north of the city. There are registered taxicabs and a Bicycle sharing scheme called Bici Q stationed in northern Quito.
