Vietnam, the dragon of the south and the meeting-place of different cultures

You can't mention Vietnam without talking about its history: successive occupations by the Chinese and the French, as well as the war with America. These events have given Vietnam a special stature and a very rich heritage. The principal city in the south - Hô Chi-Minh City - has as many skyscrapers as traditional houses. Its colonial quarter, with in particular the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office and the Reunification Palace are clear reminders of the French colonial presence.

The capital, Hanoï, is also affected by the political history of the country. Located on the far end of the Indo-Chinese peninsula, Vietnam offers a remarkable variety of landscapes, despite its small surface area. The former, in the south of the country, is spread over nine different provinces and flows into the South China Sea.
