The simple reason is that previously, the call letter ‘K’ was reserved for TV and radio stations. Although this is no longer the case, another airport, one in East Timor, managed to get to KCI before Kansas City did!

To drive to Kansas City International Airport from downtown, it takes you 20 to 25 minutes via I-29N. Turn off at exit 13. From the Transit Center at 10th and Main, RideKC’s Boardwalk-KCI 229 bus service takes around 55 minutes to terminal C. It runs 7 days a week.
